To Save a River
by Dennis Schultz (Author), Scott Dickerson (Author), Dennis C. Shultz

In late summer and early autumn, New England rivers once flashed with thousands of wild Atlantic salmon returning to spawn in their home waters. Sadly, this stirring sight is no more due to the depredations of man. Ducktrap River is one of only eight rivers in the United States that still has a wild population of Atlantic salmon. In 1995 the Ducktrap Coalition formed to protect the natural attributes for the river's watershed, resulting in the permanent conservation of eighty-percent of a land abutting the river - an accomplishment unmatched by any coastal river of the eastern United States. The luminous, ethereal images in this book capture a magnificent river in all its pristine glory - serene ponds, rushing waterfalls, misty wetlands - giving the reader a uniquely beautiful anatomy of a river. These photographs are evidence of an extraordinary conservation effort along the river throughout its watershed.

Night Train at Wiscasset Station
by Lew Dietz, Kosti Ruohomaa (Photographer)

Long sought after on the rare book market...
Although Kosti Ruohomaa's photographic career took him all over the world, he kept returning home to photograph the enduring people and lifeways of small-town Maine. The Writer Lew Dietz often collaborated with Ruohomaa over the years: "We thought pretty much alike about the State of Maine. We worked well together, covering the Grand Banks in a trawler, the Big Woods on a log drive, a Maine Christmas. I wrote the words, Kosti the music." No was more aware than these two that they were documenting a world and lifestyle that was passing. Night Train at Wiscasset Station seamlessly blends the talents of two highly respected observers of Maine.
