The Life of Colombia
by Jeremy Horner (Photographer), Villegas Benjamin (Editor), Gustavo Wilches-Chaux, Benjamin Villegas (Designer)

This 208-page book represents the discovery of a country, Colombia, captured in 250 superb color images by Jeremy Horner. This wandering, sensitive English photographer devoted several months to getting to know this land first hand. The dimension of this living country given in this book is a faithful reflection of what really goes on here. We see friendly, strong Colombia, picturesque and magical, many-faceted and photogenic The country is also projected through its geography-cities, towns, villages and, of course the immensity of the Colombian countryside-that this photographer inexhaustibly scrutinizes and that, after making it his own, returns it to us in lucid images of affection, humor, solidarity, and even a small dose of ironic complicity. The texts written by the Colombian author Gustavo Wilches-Chau are the perfect complement to the photographer's visual descriptions. They help us to further understand this land and its people whom we see talking and laughing, working and resting, living and dying.

Cartagena Forever
by Hernan Diaz (Photographer), Benjamin Villegas (Introduction)

This book does not exist. Here there are walls, bursts of laughter, sorrows and illusions; perhaps there are hurricanes. But it's certainly the ghosts of Rulfo who laugh, who greet you, who dance merecumbe and who sneeze. And there are no pages or scents or stories or words. There is a clear recollection of a woman laughing, of a man playing the clarinet, of an old woman's sadness, of a carriage dropping off a passenger. In this sense, Cartagena is a catalogue of emotions which makes your skin glow, and brings back the setting sun, a furtive embrace, an unforgotten kiss, the fufi moon at midday, the breeze in the street which sweeps the porro rhythms and which makes skirts billow, people in offices with briefcases, shade under the trees. Cartagena is here, here is her warmth, smell, taste, humor and love as always; each page turned is a corner, each photograph another memory, a deep emotion, every word a manner of being on the beach again, beyond the breeze, laughter and smiles, every image a fierce memory that gives no respite, that returns, that lives between the heart and the senses.

A Trail of Visions: Route 2: Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia
by Vicki Couchman (Photographer), Dan Hiscocks (Editor)

Route 1 is said to have 'captured the Zeitgeist of the 1990's'. Its sequel continues along that trail giving a frank and honest insight into the many different cultures, tastes and sights each country holds. 'A Trail of Visions - Route 2' is a colourful and vivid account of photographer Vicki Couchman's passage through South America. This visual essay of 181 colour and black and white photographs eavesdrops on her experiences and gives us insight into places both on and off the tourist trail. The photographs capture everyday life above and below the Equator in a relaxed and unobtrusive manner. They also give an uncensored account of the common thoughts, feeling and emotions evoked by long distance travel, as well as the varied adventures and experiences to be had abroad - whether pleasurable or problematic, exhilarating or exhausting. This book is an inspiration to those wanting to take a leap into the unknown, and serves to soften the culture shock of stepping away from the developed world.
