This site is about street children, particularly those called almudos. They are known as almajiri in Nigeria, talibé in Senegal and garibou in Mali and Burkina Faso. They are children who live in the streets in many West African cities. They are as poor as it is possible to be, yet they are the remarkably good children.
In their circumstances and behavior though, the almudos share many characteristics with street children in other parts of the world, so this site has grown to be a window into the lives of street children in many different countries.
You will find here many sources of information - over four hundred links to websites on every continent and many links to documentary information as well. Photo galleries, videos and music are freely available on the site and books and films may also be purchased. As you discover more about street children you may wish to contribute your time or effort or something material. Through the links on this site you will find many opportunities to do so.
The links on the left will introduce you to a world where 150,000,000 children live - our city streets. You are welcome!
