Say It in Swedish  $4.95
A Good Fun Guide to Swedish, March 28, 2000
Reviewer: Jayne M Lefavi from Pennsylvania, USA
I actually purchased this book a few years ago. As a high school student into Swedish culture, I bought this book because it looked fun and easy to read. I was very impressed with this pocket sized text. I felt as though I started learning Swedish right away. I learned my phone number, days of the week and greetings. I taught my friends. They all borrowed the book. I went to Sweden and Finland about a year later. I found it useful. It is not the be all and end all of the Swedish language by any means, but I loved it. I do wish it had an audio tape. I lost the book recently and I have decided to repurchase the same book because I have found none better for the price and quick information it provided.

Essentials of Swedish Grammar (Verbs and Essentials of Grammar Series)  $11.87
Best Introduction to Swedish Grammar available in English, October 17, 2002
Reviewer: SteveI from Mpls, MN USA
As any native English speaker trying to learn Swedish had found out, there is a real lack of useful Swedish learning tools out there. One of the very few items that I can recommend without reservation is this basic grammar by Viberg et al. - it does a great job of covering all the major grammar points without bogging the learner down in obscure terms or arcane exceptions that will rarely be encountered in real, spoken Swedish. In a practically minded manner, limits itself to using the vocabulary that a person needs to pick up in their first few years of study. Finally, it is exceptionally well organized - do you need to find out how adjectives are declined in Swedish? Well, you can find the appropriate section very easily by looking in either the well organized table of contents or the detailed index in the back. Twenty minutes of no-fuss, no-muss reading and you'll learn all you'll ever need to know about adjectives. It's a great book to have in your backpack to pull out while riding the bus - it's such an easy read, it feels more like pleasure reading than studying. Highly Recommend!

Dic Prisma's Swedish-English Dictionary  $19.95
Prisma's Swedish-English Dictionary-A Great Investment, December 16, 2000
Reviewer: stuntdevil2000 from San Francisco, California
The first time I saw this book was when I decided to buy it, being that there is a great lack of useful Swedish Dictionaries published in the English language. However, when I received this dictionary it well out-did itself. Not only does it have a section on Swedish pronunciation, noun endings, and other grammatical features at the beginning, it gives numerous phrases and other helpful words associated with most every word you look up. Beware, that if you think this book is Swedish-English, English-Swedish (as I mistakingly did), you're in for a surprise. However, if you do decide to buy the complement edition to this book-the English-Swedish version-you are once again in for a treat, as it presents the same quality as this book, only for English-Swedish translations.

This really was a great investment, and I urge anyone interested in the Swedish language to pick this (as well as the companion volume) up, along with either Routledge's Comprehensive Swedish Grammar (if you're really serious), Routledge's Essential Swedish Grammar (if you're just interested or need a small review)in addition to a good Swedish course (Colloquial Swedish-with the cassettes of course-is a good beginner's course).

201 Swedish Verbs Fully Conjugated in All the Tenses: Alphabetically Arranged  $10.47
As Good As Any In The 201/501 Verb Series, December 9, 2002
Reviewer: polyglot15 from Ardmore, PA United States
While the conjugation patterns of Swedish verbs are relatively simple and do not require the same schematic analysis as, say, the verbs of Russian or Hebrew, Richard Auletta has gone beyond the mere compiling of Swedish verbs and offered the reader a truly valuable explanation of Swedish verbal morphology. The first part of the book is dedicated to this explanation, presenting the various classes of verbs, the rules behind the morphology, and the history of some archaic forms. Auletta's explanation of the nature of Swedish verbs will serve and interest the student long after he or she has actually learned to conjugate most verbs.
